Lutana is a residential suburb of Greater Hobart, lying about 3 kilometres south‑east of Glenorchy and bordered by the Brooker Highway and the western shore of the River Derwent. At the 2021 Census it recorded 2,616 residents. The housing stock reflects its origins as a model garden‑city village for zinc‑works employees, with early Arts‑and‑Crafts concrete homes alongside later weatherboard, brick, townhouses and apartments that give the area a varied inner‑urban character.

Residents enjoy local open spaces such as Apex Park, the Athol Street Playground and Lutana Woodlands Reserve, and the suburb adjoins the private nine‑hole New Town Bay Golf Club. Road access is provided by National Route 1 (Brooker Highway) on the south‑west edge, while the disused rail corridor that once served the “Big Zinc” commuter train is earmarked for a walking‑and‑cycling link connecting Lutana with Derwent Park and the Intercity Cycleway.
