Riverside lies 5 km north‑west of Launceston’s CBD and is bisected by the West Tamar Highway (A7), linking the city with nearby towns such as Beaconsfield. The 2016 census recorded 6,472 residents, making it Launceston’s largest suburb, just ahead of Kings Meadows. The area includes Riverside Primary, Riverside High, Launceston Christian School and St Anthony’s, and a 1960s‑era shopping centre with Woolworths, a bakery, pharmacist and local businesses, plus a nearby IGA complex with a church, restaurant, pub and Best Western motel.
