Waroona sits at the foot of the Darling Range, 113 km south of Perth on the South Western Highway (Route 20). The 2016 census recorded 2,934 residents and the town is the seat of the Shire of Waroona. It is served by the Australind passenger train at Waroona Railway Station. Housing includes heritage‑listed railway cottages from 1896 and newer homes around the centre.
