Overview

Waratah is a small North Western Tasmanian town of 249 residents (2021 census) that grew around the Mount Bischoff tin mine. Built atop a waterfall, it was the first Australian settlement to install electric street lights in 1886. The locality sits on the edge of Savage River National Park and is within a few kilometres of Waratah Falls, Queens Park, Saunders Park, Waratah Reservoir and Magnet Dam, offering ample outdoor recreation.
